Fasting To Lose Weight?

When wanting to lose weight it is all too easy to think that fasting is a great way to get down a few pounds. I am hear to tell you that fasting to lose weight will work… sort of. I mean it does not take a rocket scientest to figure out that if you stop eating you will lose weight. Just ask anyone coming out of being sick where they had no appetite. They always lose some weight. Depression is another scenario in which you might stop eating and lose some weight. So it is obvious that you can lose weight in this manner.

The problem with fasting to lose weight is twofold. For one it is going to cause your body's metabolism to slow down in an effort to keep you alive during starvation. When you stop eating your body assumes you are starving and goes into panic mode. It slows down your metabolism in an effort to keep away the bad effects of not eating. This means that when you eventually start eating again you will gain weight that much faster. That is the second part of the problem with fasting. Losing weight in thismanner is just not sustainable for the long term. At some point you will have to start eating regularly again and when you do you will be in worse shape than when you started.

Fasting might seem like an easy way to lose some weight but in truth it is not. We have reviewed a lot of different programs to lose fat and gain muscle and found a few that we feel good about recommending. Check them out for a real way to lose weight and get in shape for the long term.
